Red TRON Ares Overlay Activated on Magic Kingdom’s Lightcycle Run

TRON Lightcycle / Run looks different today! In honor of the upcoming premiere of the Tron: Ares film, Walt Disney Imagineering has programmed new lighting sequences on the TRON roller coaster at Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disney.

At Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney on Aug. 30, 2025, it was announced that TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise at Magic Kingdom Park will feature an exciting new overlay inspired by the upcoming Walt Disney Studios film, “Tron: Ares.” For a limited time starting Sept. 15, guests entering the digital frontier will be transported into a “Tron: Ares”-themed version of the high-speed, adrenaline-filled ride that transforms reality into a video game world as riders weave through twisting tunnels of bright red and orange light trails, set to the pulsating sounds of Nine Inch Nails. Intermittently throughout each hour, the TRON Grid canopy at Magic Kingdom turns red, accompanied by red lighting effects on the attraction marquee signage.

Limited Time Experience

Disney has stated this Tron: Ares overlay is a limited time feature at TRON Lightcycle / Run. While no end date for the overlay has been officially established, it is likely the overlay will last through the 2025 holiday season.

The overlay started at Magic Kingdom on September 15th, 2025. At Shanghai Disney, the overlay began on September 16th, 2025.

Tron: Ares releases in theaters on October 10th, 2025.
