Disney has just released new concept art for their long-planned Disney Lakeshore Lodge opening next year at Walt Disney World. Located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, this 967-room property will feature a mix of DVC timeshares and traditional hotel guest rooms.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is nestled between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort on the shores of Bay Lake. Walt Disney World’s newest resort hotel is constructed on the site that used to be home to Disney’s River Country, Walt Disney World’s long-abandoned original water park.

In the newly released concept art from Disney, you will spot the angular entrance porte cochere, bus depot, and main profile of the front facade. Very similar in style to the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, we frankly hope this is the last of the previous wave of resort design at Walt Disney World. Keep in mind, this resort was concieved back when former CEO Bob Chapek was still Chairman of the Disney Parks, and long before Imagineering reclaimed creative autonomy on Walt Disney World Resort hotel projects during Iger’s second reign.

In recent aerials from bioreconstruct, you can see the latest development at the site in real life. Work on the finished facade inches closer as the basic building infrastructure nears completion.
