Today, at the site of the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed land at Walt Disney World, theme park sleuths discovered new art posted on the construction walls blocking off the recently-closed Muppets Courtyard area. Blog Mickey and other Disney Parks photographers have posted their photographs of the newly-posted overview art for the Monsters, Inc. Land, which differs from the original art Disney released near the beginning of the year!

Comparing the Late 2024 concept art to the June 2025 concept art reveals some surprising changes!
The Monstrous Picture

Comparing the concept art from a wide view, eagle-eyed readers will notice the biggest infrastructure change right away: the Monsters, Inc. Door Factory Coaster building has been set backwards approximately 20 feet. This change opens up a large new promenade the width of the entrance facade past the end of the former Muppets Courtyard street.

New Monsters, Inc. Promenade Opens Up Space For More Amenities

Given the upcoming vertical-lift coaster will come with a height requirement, children should have a spot to play while their older siblings enter the Door Factory. In the new promenade, there appears to be a shaded area. This could be for a children’s play area. However, it could also be for outdoor queuing, a meet and greet, merchandise, or food & beverage. While the resolution is not high enough for us to get a great look, note a previous piece of art features a tubular slide with Sully’s spots on it in this location!

This slide is visible in an older rough concept for the Monsters, Inc. Door Factory! It is possible this older art is from an outdated proposal to place the coaster where the Animation Building currently resides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so don’t read into the placement or appearance of buildings here.
Monsters, Inc. Cars Missing (or Moved?)
Heading back to the very front of the land, the Grand Avenue portion of the concept has slightly changed.

The cars parked on the Grand Avenue in the 2024 concept art are now missing, as is the main pictured Monster car previously parked outside the theater, which we will look at in a moment.

Monsters, Inc. Archway No More!
The land’s entrance itself has also been modified.
It looks like instead of a full archway, Walt Disney Imagineering is now opting for only entrance columns on each side of the entryway. While one could say this is clear “value-engineering,” the updated look is not unlike the entrance to the DINOSAUR area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which looks pretty great!
“The Monstro” Becomes “The Glob!”
Finally making it inside the land, big changes to the plan can be found at the former home of Muppet*Vision 3D.

The signage for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. theater show has changed from blue to green. The concept for the nameplate which previously read “The Monstro” now reads “The Glob!” The Muppets tower has been made significantly more monstrous in appearance. Also note another vanished Monster car, as well as the removal of a shaded outdoor covering for queue overflow.
One source of Mickey Views suggests a rumor that this theater show will be a derivation of the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom Park, formatted as a late-night TV broadcast staring Mike Wazowski. This would explain “The Glob” name and color, referencing the legendary spherical character. Disney has yet to officially announce any premise, theme, or format for this new show.
Please ignore any garbled text or artifacts in the close-up zooms of the concept art. Those are NOT Disney using AI. The upscaling is our own rough enhancement to better editorialize and examine very small areas in the art.
The Muppets Fountain May Live On!
In the 2024 art, the iconic Muppets Courtyard fountain looked destined for a full demolition, with a marble eyeball taking its place (possibly including a laminar-flow water feature effect).

In the updated 2025 concept art, a fountain that looks identical in footprint to the existing Muppets fountain takes the eyeball’s place! Miss Piggy will be absent, no doubt, but this fountain looks very similar to the existing fountain and should add some great kinetics to the entrance of the land.

Land Restrooms Facade

In the 2024 art, the former “Gonzo’s Royal Flush” land restrooms area looked destined for major facade changes to fit with the Monsters, Inc. theme. Based on the new 2025 concept, it appears changes to this facade have been scaled back. A billboard has also been removed from the roof of the former PizzeRizzo outdoor seating.

More Facade Changes On Existing Muppets Buildings
A rather stunning fact of this land re-theme is that the buildings housing “It’s A Wonderful Shop” and “Mama Melrose Ristorante Italiano” are surviving the land overhaul!

Re-themed to new shops and a yet-to-be-confirmed Harryhausen’s Japanese Restaurant, the existing facades in the area have received slight changes in the new art.

Expanded Area In Back Of Land

As previously highlighted with the new large promenade outside the land’s e-ticket attraction, here you can get an up-close view of the end of the Monsters, Inc-themed street. Note the parking lot to the right side of the promenade, which may be the perfect spot to park some of those Monster cars which have vanished from other areas of the land. Monster cars parked in a parking lot outside the building would make for a great photo opportunity and make the Door Factory feel more like a living workplace!
Final Thoughts
While some “value engineering” can certainly be gleaned from this closer-to-reality concept art update, many of the changes are welcome ones. Particularly, the larger Muppets-esque fountain and the additional promenade areas look awesome. The removal of elaborate Monsters decor from the facade of the restrooms area is a step back Disney should undo, and we really hope we get some Monster cars in the land when it opens! Some fans online lament the loss of the Monsters, Inc. Courtyard archway idea, however, the columns to each side are likely to be well-detailed and cool on their own.
